BLW & Doctor Visits

First of all, the baby-led solids are going really well! A few days ago Kynlee tried avocado for the first time! If you follow me on Twitter then you may have already seen the pictures and video. If not, you can see it HERE on the BLW blog. That's where I'll be blogging Kynlee's food adventures!

On Thursday I had a doctor's appointment and so did Kynlee. Kynlee's was for her 6 month well check and shots (3 weeks late due to them rescheduling twice). Both appointments took forever, but Kynlee's lasted 2 HOURS.

Her appointment time was for 2:20pm. They called us back about ten minutes later and did her weight/measurements. We were seeing a new (to us) NP that we had never seen before (again due to the rescheduling). She ended up being SUPER nice. I'm guessing she was running behind that day because we waited an hour and a half after they did K's measurements for her to come do the well check. And then we had to wait for the shots after that. We've always been in and out of the peds office in around 30 minutes. So yesterday's appointment made for a LONG visit!

At 6 months & 3wks, Kynlee weighs in at 15 lbs., 6 ounces and is 25.75 inches long. She is still a small (but growing!) baby.
She's had a cough/runny nose/watery & matted eyes for about a week now (one of her eyes has constantly been matted like that since she was born - & I've been having to massage her tear duct - but it's gotten worse this week). They are trying her on some antibiotic drops for her eyes and Claritin for her allergies (which is what they think is causing all of that).

This weekend we have plans to RELAX. We may be sanding/painting a chest-of-drawers to finally put in Kynlee's room so that I can better organize her clothes. I also need to get some storage containers for her clothes that she's already grown out of. Right now they're in a cardboard box & that's not going to cut it. Plus, there's some stuff that hasn't even been packed up yet that needs to be.

Oh and lucky me: Just before we left K's appointment on Thursday my throat started to get sore. Just a little. But by yesterday morning it was throbbing! It especially hurts to swallow but really just hurts in general. Bleh. Be sure to leave any sore-throat remedies you have in the comments below. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

6 months old!

A lot has happened this past month! I am still amazed at how quickly time flies!
This post will include a lot of dates, because I wanna be able to compare the age she did things with our next child!

On the evening of February 6th (post-Superbowl game) Kynlee sat up by herself for the first time!
She was off and on with it for a couple of weeks but now she LOVES to sit up on her own!

On February 8th I felt and saw Kynlee's first tooth (it's one of her bottom-middle teeth)! I have not been able to get a picture of it because whenever you pull down her lip, she sticks her tongue over it. Sneaky girl.

Valentine's Day - this was Kynlee's first Valentine's day & we love celebrating "firsts" with her!

Valentine's was also the day that K took her first bath with momma. She seemed to LOVE it! She's always been a fan of baths and she's pretty fond of her momma (if I do say so myself) so it was a win win!
Picture below: 2-9-11 ~ She finally fits into her robe & slippers!

Another first on V-day? Kynlee sat in her highchair for the first time (though she didn't eat anything just yet)!
(Cell phone pic so it's not the best quality. She was so sleepy.)

Just ten days after her first tooth popped through Kynlee's 2nd tooth (bottom middle -next to the other) broke through, too (2-18-11)! I remember K being a little fussy as the first tooth was coming in, but the 2nd tooth seemed to be a breeze for her. I'm hoping all the others are like this, but I'm not holding my breath!
Still not able to get pics of the teeth. They're super cute. You'll have to take my word on it!

On 2-20-11 Kynlee took her first sips of water out of a sippy cup! She wasn't quite sure what to think of the sippy cup at first but she was definitely intrigued!
(More cell phone pics...sorry for the blurriness!)

This past Tuesday Kynlee went to MiMi's house. It was such a pretty day that MiMi decided to take Kynlee for a stroll around the yard! :)

Kynlee has been playing with her feet for a while now but just yesterday she finally put her foot in her mouth...literally! I didn't get a picture of that, but here's what I did get.

Speaking of yesterday, it was her official half-birthday!
We started baby-led weaning.
(more BLW posts to come soon)

We are still co-sleeping and plan to continue doing so - it just works for us! Why wouldn't I want to co-sleep when I get to wake up next to this smiling face every morning? It makes my day!

Happy 6 months, lil' bit!

You are growing up right before our eyes!

Love,
Momma & Daddy
